Voya Investment Management – Conference Call Replay: Markets Sell Off on Global Growth Concerns

On Friday, August 21, major domestic indexes capped off a bleak week with their worst daily declines in four years, as the S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq all shed in excess of 3% for the day. A weekend away did nothing to soothe the nerves of jumpy investors; after another overnight rout in China — the Shanghai Composite Index lost around 8.5% — U.S. markets returned Monday morning to immense selling pressure; within minutes of the opening bell, the Dow was down more than 1,000 points (or 6%-plus). Though a fair part of that loss was clawed back by midday, markets faded into the close and remain turbulent, in the U.S. and elsewhere.

On August 25, Voya Investment Management hosted a conference call with some of their investment leaders to discuss turmoil in capital markets and the potential implications for institutional investors and consultants.
